About project

Aim of the project is to gain knowledge about the mechanisms taking place during disintegration of hardwood. Therefore a test set-up will be developed, enabling a thorough analysis of the disintegration process at a cutting speed of around 100 m/s. The process is analysed by means of detailed cutting force and deformation analysis, applying synchronised force measurements and high-speed video recordings. These data will be used as a basis for the development of a finite element model, which subsequently serves as a tool for knowledge-based optimisation measures.  The project “HARDIS”, July 2017 – June 2020, is a cooperation between the Department of Wood Science and Technology, Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology, Mendel University in Brno and Wood K plus, Area Wood Materials Technologies (Kompetenzzentrum Holz GmbH), Tulln.
